Let me start by saying that I love a good flavored whiskey/pairing so when I saw this I knew I had to try it. The pineapple scent comes out first with a very nice tropical note and it paired well with all the of sodas I have tried it with so far. Personally I wouldn't drink it straight or just on ice but that's just me. I did find that the pineapple flavor came out more when mixed with drinks than any whiskey flavor did so I liked that. The packaging is nice from the outside but I will say the aerator cap is constantly getting stuck and preventing a pour until you shake it while tilted over a glass and that's pretty inconvenient.

Buchanan's Pineapple Scotch Whiskey is surprising and unexpected. First of all…Scotch with pineapple? So crazy! But no. Buchanan's has somehow figured out how to make the two disparate flavors meld together in harmony. The scent of pineapple wafts out of the bottle immediately upon opening. It smells like fresh pineapple juice, direct from the tropics. But when you pour and take the first taste, you are transported to the Scottish Highlands, albeit wearing a Hawaiian aloha shirt. The natural pineapple and citrus flavors that have been added to the mix mellow out the bite that can sometimes be a characteristic of scotch. I tried it straight, sipping, but it would be tasty in any traditional tropical mixed drinks. The bottle would also look great on anyone's home bar. I can still taste the pleasant scotch smokiness on my palate.
